Come and make a wooden spoon formed by hand from Greenwood.
Spoon carving is an immersive activity, it develops great focus and offers an opportunity to find your ‘flow’ and master something truly rewarding.
The aim of this short course is to show you the steps to make a wooden eating spoon using and axe, gouges and knives.

The course will cover
-Safe practices and good habits when handling knives and axes.
-Axe techniques needed to hew a spoon blank with an axe.
- Use of gouges to form the bowl
-Introduction to essential knife grips with straight and spoon knife.
You will come away with information that illustrates the main points covered on the course. You can then practice these new skills to build your confidence and start your own spoon carving journey. Hunting out that ideal form in this rewarding practice.

Course Suitability. This course is suitable for beginners or those with some previous experience.
Due to the risks inherent in using sharp knives and axes, we ask that all attendees are able to take instruction and have strength and stability in their hands.

Practicalities on the day. All wood and tools will be provided. Please wear sturdy closed toe shoes and practical clothes. Please bring your own packed lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided and available during breaks. Parking is free locally but can get very busy so leave enough time to find a space.

Terms and Conditions. You must be over 18 years old to attend the course.
The booking fee is non refundable. If you cannot attend the course, all cancellations must be made via email to [email protected]. If you need to cancel and give sufficient notice of 28 days or more before the workshop start date, I may be able to move you to a new course date.
The organiser reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a workshop due to unforeseen circumstances such as low enrolment or other emergencies. In such cases, a full refund or reschedule the participant’s attendance to a future course.
